The Auditorium Acoustic Guitar

Another Martin creation, the 000 guitar is almost the perfect halfway house between a Dreadnought and a Parlour acoustic.   The Auditorium's classic figure meant it sat comfortably on the knee, endearing it to players of folk and other fingerpicking-heavy styles of music. This shape ensured it had the perfect balance between playing and comfort. It wad often seen 9n the lap of no less a player than Eric Clapton. It wasn't  averse to a bit of heavy strumming when the occasion called, and it's large bottom could keep pace when playing with others    A great example of the Auditorium acoustic is the Martin OOOX1AE,which in Martin-terms is an affordable piece of superior Guitar heritage

The Parlour Guitar

The Guitar's distinctive shrunken body shape is another invention from the CF Martin Guitar House, with the Guitar's neck typically joining the body at the 12th fret.        At the other end of the size extreme sits a shape called the Parlour. These Guitars are among the smallest in body size you can buy-not counting the modern 'baby guitars'.These are typically favoured by players of more low-key,less brash musical styles like Folk or Indie.       Compared to a Dreadnought, the shoulders will usually be slightly more sloped than you'd see in a classic Dreadnought Acoustic, while the base of the body will also be narrower than larger sized Guitars. The smaller size of the guitar makes it more comfortable to play and less physically intrusive playing experience.Another obvious advantage of the Parlour is it's portability. This body size will probably offer better portability as compared to a larger body like Dreadnought or the Jumbo. ...

The Jumbo Guitar

The Jumbo Guitar is probably the largest in the family. It is the loudest one as well.If Dreadnoughts are the poster-boys and parlours the waif-like supermodels, then Jumbo are the plus size, brash, loud ones who just want to have fun.The Jumbo s are  usually seen in the hands of Noel Callaghan or Bob Dylan, and the benefits here are measured in sheer volume.Due to the bigger body, there is more room for air to vibrate which causes sound to reverberate around the body which cannot be recreated from a smaller bodied guitar.      The original Jumbo acoustic, the Gibson J2000,was first released in 1937.Players quickly accepted this guitar due to its deep basssound which provisded the perfect complement for the more twiddly lead styles which couldn't be achieved from other shapes. If put simple, jumbos play well with others.       Gibson is the creator of the original J2000 but due to its price,it was not possible for all the players t...

The Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar

The Dreadnought is type of acoustic guitar body developed by C.F.Martin and company.Since then other guitar manufacturers copied the style and it became one of the most famous acoustic guitar body type.       The word Dreadnought  referred to a big gun, almighty ,  modern battleship pioneered by HMS Dreadnought in 1906.A body much bigger than the normal guitar gave Dreadnought guitar a rich, bolder, warmer and perhaps loud tone.It is distinguished by size and square shoulders at the bottom. The fretboard is usually attached to the body at the 14th fret.        The popularity of the Martin Dreadnought Guitars was increased by their use, almost exclusively by folk musicians of the mid 20th century, including most bluegrass guitarists.Today Dreadnoughts are considered the standard guitar of bluegrass music, used by many bluegrass musicians to produce a signature sound of that genre.         Martin Dreadn...

Acoustics

Musical Sound:       Music is one of the glories of sound. When a musician plays a certain note of a certain pitch,t he musical instrument vibrates or RESONATE and produces a complex pattern of sound waves made up of many different frequencies. The most noticeable sound waves is called the fundamental, but there are other waves with higher frequencies, called harmonics.Notes from a flute sound more pure than those from a saxophone because they contain fewer harmonics.Musical instruments often make very quiet sounds, but some are designed to AMPLIFY the sounds they make so we can hear them more easily.        String instrument:    A violin makes musical sounds when it's strings vibrate. If you plucks string and watch it closely, you can see it vibrating very quickly. The vibrations begin with the strings, but quickly make the large wooden body of the instrument vibrate as well. The vibrating body amplifies the sound greatly.       ...

The history of acoustic Guitar-2

Ancestors in Guitar history:      The lute -It was a instrument with a curved back and came in variety of shapes and sizes, and had either 4 or 5 courses and was either strummed with a quill feather. It was a popular instrument for hundreds of years and was passed on from Egyptians to the Greek, then to the Romans who introduced it throughout the  Europe.        The Oud:When Moors invaded the southern spain in 711AD they brought the oud along with them.I t shared common ancestry with the string instruments of Europe and like oud has a rounded body but unlike oud lacks frets and had a smaller neck.          Getting closer:By the end of Renaissance, the lute had evolved and frequently had 20 to 30 strings, but it was slowly falling out of favour. In spain, fretted instruments with similar silhouette of the modern 'Guitar'started appearing around the 15th and 16th century.         The first modern guita...
